Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a benefit that is tax free, and is normally paid once a month. The allowance will be paid into your account.
People who are eligible for Disability Living Allowance may also be eligible for additional benefits or tax credits. To be eligible for DLA a person has to meet the following criteria: they have to be aged between 16 and 64 as of April 8th, 2013; a claim has to have been made before June 10th, 2013; claimants will either require assistance in looking after themselves, or have walking difficulties. Please use the dla contact number if there are any issues.
Any health issues must have existed for a minimum of three months (unless you are terminally ill and don’t expect to live beyond six months. This will then not be applicable). To be eligible for the allowance you must expect the health issue to affect you for the next six months. If you are uncertain about any aspect regarding your claim please call the Disability Living Allowance Contact Number or DLA contact number for short.
The Disability Living Allowance has a care component that is designed to help people who require assistance when going to the toilet, or who are on dialysis, or who require supervision, or who need help with dressing, washing, cooking, eating, and communication. The care component will typically be given to people who are receiving insufficient care and who are living alone.
A mobility component is available for people with walking difficulties, severe seeing and hearing problems, are severely mentally impaired, or are people who require extensive supervision. The DLA Contact Number is available if you require clarification on eligibility.
Claimants may be given written notification that they will have to attend an assessment to determine the appropriate level of help. At any assessment a passport, or three other forms of identification, such as a birth certificate, full driving licence, a bank statement, or life assurance policy will need to be produced at the assessment.
